Back to School Trio with Krisi's Kreations

It's hard to believe it's almost August.  For some of you, you are getting ready to send your kiddos back to school.  Here in PA we have until the end of August, but as a third grade teacher I always begin thinking about school the end of July and getting myself geared up for the year.  Every year, the first day of school is so exciting for me.  Welcoming 20+ students into my classroom and watching them grow emotionally, socially and academically over the year is just such a joy.  So...in celebration of back to school I have worked on a few projects to get in gear.  Hopefully, it will get your creative juices flowing too and you'll be able to start the year right by sending in a special little gift for your child's teacher.

My first project is a coffee mug that I decorated all up. I bought the tumbler at Starbucks.

Here is the template that I used to make it.  You can buy it here.

Here's my second project...a sticker holder.  Every teacher needs a place to organize his/her stickers.

Here is the template that I used to make it.  This template is so versatile.  There are so many uses for this.  I can see this holding flash cards, of course recipes,...think anything that you would use 3X5 for.  The possibilities are endless.  You can buy the template here.

And my last project is a notepad holder.  Teachers always have "to do" lists.
the inside:

Here is the template that I used to make the legal pad wrap.  What I love so much about Krisi's templates is the choices she gives you to meet the needs of  your own creative side.  In this one you can make bracket, scallop, round or straight flap.  You can buy it here.

On all three projects I used this letter set.  Love it!!!

You can find this fun alphabet here.
Well, there you have it! Three great teacher gifts for back to school! If you are headed back to school have a great week! Have fun! If you aren't headed back to school, enjoy some more much needed vacation and create!

Power Week Card Challenge at LCOM

We've got not just one, but two challenges for you at LCOM this week. You've got the power to choose to do one, two, or a combination. The first challenge is Use Your Stash. Rusha challenged us to use our stash and it has to be older than 2 months...WOW...I'm sure you will find this way difficult....NOT!!!:) The second challenge is an Inspirational Challenge. Dani challenged us to use a household object as your inspiration-the design on a Kleenex box or the colors of a blanket-you name it. You must include a photo of your inspirational piece.
I chose to do both challenges this week...

Here's my inspiration:
My Mom made us this quilt.  I believe it is the log cabin pattern.  It stays on our bed as our comforter all year long.

Here's my card:
The squares mimic quilt blocks.  It is paper from the Marrakesh basic grey line that I have had in my stash for more than a year.  I also ran the black cs through my big shot and embossed it.  The ribbon is from Stampin Up.  I frayed the edges and put some ink on it to grunge it up a bit and give it some texture.

Hope you decide to play along with us this week because there is an awesome prize pack ...a 6X6 Nikki Sivils paper pack and matching stamp set or you can choose to be a GDT.  Go check it out at the blog.

My family and several other families went camping near White Haven PA this weekend.  Many of them went white water rafting yesterday.  When I get organized, I'll have some pictures to share later this week.  Craig and I didn't go.  He's a great guy.  He stayed with me to keep me company!!! Our kids all went and had a blast!!! Then when they got back from white water rafting, the kids did the zipline! They had to climb this tree and then they zipped down this rope.  WOW! I was so proud of them.  (I never would have done it.  I am such a scaredy cat!!!shhh!!!) Here they are standing at the top getting ready to ZIP...

A Couple Layouts

Last week when Craig and Jeremy were at Boy Scout camp I was scrapping.
Here's two of the layouts I worked on to enter to apply for Trailmakers Design Team.  I found out on Thursday that Karen chose me and 5 other designers.  Very excited to begin this new scrapbooking adventure.  So stop on over http://www.trailmakers.blogspot.com/ and check it out.  She has a store and everything.

Supplies Used:
Bo Bunny Calypso collection
My Little Shoebox brown letters
Real red cardstock  and ribbon and summer sun cardstock and pacific point stamp pad Stampin Up
Gesso

I used the cracked glass tehnique by heating thick embossing powder three times and then placing in the freezer.  When I took it out of the freezer I cracked it to get it to look like it had broken glass.  I wished the glass waswhiter than what it is, but oh...well...

Here's another layout I worked on:

My Grandmother is truly a domestic goddess.  She is the only woman I know who still irons her pillowcases.  Are you kidding me? I love this picture of her.  She is such a sweetie.  She's hugging me so tight that her eyes are closed.  Would she ever be mad at me if she saw this picture!!!

Supplies Used:
Graphic 45 Domestic Goddess pattern paper
Brocade Blue ink, cs and Really Rust ink, cs Stampin Up
Websters letters
American Crafts Chipboard letters
glimmermist sunkissed peach
blossom masks from tattered angels

Here is the close up of the flower that I glimmer misted and then wrapped around the circle that I had put lots of adhesive on to create a fabric/ribbon rose.  I added a pearl to bling it up a little.
The leaves are made just by taking a circle and folding it over a little.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Smile!!!

Hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July. I picked up some fireworks today when I went out for some milk and to get 120+ boyscout pictures printed.  When I got home, Kati quickly told me that I did a good job in my selection however I didn't get Mountain Dew.  I told her she could do that another day.  She wasn't thrilled, but she accepted it.  The kids were so excited to set them off.  I went outside for a few minutes.  I felt like such a party pooper. I just couldn't handle the noise from the fireworks the kids and Craig were setting off, so I had to come in the house. It makes me cringe. The surgeon doesn't understand why I am reacting to sound the way I am, but my neurologist understands completely. He said all that messing around in there may have given me some sound sensitivities. He also said that not all people react the same way as others. I can tell it's getting better, but it still isn't totally right. I realize I only had my surgery in April but it's just little things like that that I miss out on....already I am worrying about the fall and the marching band. When the fireworks were over I went back outside and we had a fire. We roasted marshmallows and sat and talked. The kids slept in the tent. All in all it was a good 4th of July. Hope you had a great one with you and yours too!

I am really loving this card I made for Mel's Recipe Challenge at LCOM this week.  She asked us to use at least 3 different pattern papers, to emboss any way we wanted and to use a piece of chipboard.  Well, it didn't take me long to figure out that I was going to use Snorkel from Cosmo Cricket...my dry embossing is my center strip that has "smile" on it.  I did get a little vivacious with the ink pad.  I accidentally picked up the chocolate chip one and I thought it was close to cocoa, which I had sitting on my right side.  Oh well, I really do LOVE how it turned out.  It does make me SMILE when I see it.  I hope it makes you smile too.  If you want to play along, go check out the blog and hit Mr. Linky up before Saturday.  The more the merrier!!!!

Supplies:
Paper-Snorkel..Cosmo Cricket; Kraft STampin Up
Ink- Chocolate Chip and Close to Cocoa ink pads
Accessories: Chipboard Cosmo Cricket; big polka dot texturz impressions big shot; letters K& Co. circle punch EK Success

Krisi's New Release of Flowers and LCOM 28 Days of Summer

Check out Krisi's  new release of flowers.  She's now including SVG cutting files in them.
I didn't use the SVG cutting files.  I just used the computer and my scissors.  It was very easy.  I just estimated how large I wanted my flower and then kept making my flower smaller.  Then I copied my pattern onto my pattern paper and cut them out.

Here's the flower up close:

Ink-old olive, brocade blue, really rust and chocolate chip SU ink pads, walnut gold glimmermist from tattered angels
Stamps- Sincere Salutations Stampin Up

LOL!!! Looking forward to meeting you on the boards!!!:)

Taking A Walk Through My Computer Gallery :)

Lately it seems like everything I put on here is cards.  I have been in a rut I will admit!!! You might say I have been on a little scrappy retreat at home.  You see my husband and son went to Boyscout Camp this week.  Jeremy informed me last night he has lots of pictures for me to scrap when he gets home.  So, it's just been the girls and I.  The girls...well...they are too busy for me most of the time, they want to read, watch tv and only need me when they want to go somewhere.  LOL!!
Anyways, I had to upload a card of course.  But I do have some scrappy pages to upload too.  I was looking through my Picasa gallery yesterday and thinking, wow I sure have a lot of projects in here.  I really need to organize them somehow and get them off of my computer because I think they are starting to eat up so much memory.  It's amazing how much you accumulate on your computer and I think should I save them or get rid of them..., just like scrappy supplies!!!:) I have so much pattern paper that right now I seriously don't know all that I have and I thought I did!!! Everytime I go throught my stash I find something and say oh...I forgot I had that! I guess my brother is right I am a hoarder when it comes to scrapbooking! There you have it ...I confessed...I am a HOARDER!!!
So...enough rambling! I thought I would put a few of my faves on here and some that I am not sure I have ever even posted.

A Pirate's Life For Me
This was a layout I created for my LSS.  I really liked how it turned out.  I NEVER would have bought this paper and these accessories.  I think having to work with things that you may not work with normally pushes you to work out of the box and think a little differently.

Supplies:
Paper- Creative Imaginations pirates life
Letters: American Crafts
Accessories-Creative Imaginations

My Three*Ring Circus
This one totally cracks me up! I love the picture.  It was an out take of a Christmas photo I was taking, but beyond that this page is one of those that I totally detest! The only reason I did it was because I HAD to.  I do like how I put the ball stickers on top of the buttons.

My Little Monster
I created this layout for a Scrapivor competition.  Can I just tell you...it's like one of my faves?! I love it!!! I love the picture! I love the line of paper! I love the way it looks!!!

Supplies:
Sassafrass Lass Monstrosity
American Crafts Letters
black chalk ink
red chalk ink

Laugh
I love how this one turned out too, but I also love this picture of Kati playing in the lake.  Laughing is something Kati does all the time.  She is so silly.  She finds humor in everything and I truly love that about her.  Late at night, I have to tell her to stop!!! She told me once that I was the only Mom on the face of the Earth that asked her child to stop laughing.  Then I laughed at her! :) She is so humorous and smart to be able to throw that in my face! She certainly keeps us on our toes! Notice on the ribbon I put stickles on to make it match the paper I was using.

Supplies:
Paper- Colorbok Forest Friends; Going Gray Stampin Up Cardstock
Ink-going gray Stampin Up pad
Accessories: American crafts ribbon, Kaiser Craft bling, stickles

Be Yourself
It is so difficult to get pictures of  Gabrielle.  I absolutely adore this layout because it is so her.  She allowed me to take some candid shots of her when we were at the beach...many she didn't know I was taking... I am just so proud of who she is and what she stands for.  I think this layout really portrays that and her personality.

Supplies:
Papers-Sassafrass Lass, Stampin UP
Inks: Stampin UP
Accessories: Cricut Cartridge

Thanks for taking a walk down memory lane with me.  Within the next few days I should have some new layouts to post or at least a card ...LOL!!!
