Glimmer Mist Embossing Technique Tutorial and Card Challenge for this Week at LCOM

A few weeks ago over at LCOM's Birthday Bash, Liz Hicks chatted with us and told us that you could emboss with glimmer mist.  Pretty cool, eh?! Well, I decided to try it out and make a technique tutorial out of it while I did it.  I posted it over on LCOM, but figured I would post it here too.

Step 4...clean up your area! Put embossing powder away! LOL!!!

And there you have it the finished product.  To make the card I just punched out three scallop strips from the scallop punch and sprayed them with a little patina and attached then put lace on top.  Then stamped my salutation from STampin UP on there with a piece of matching ribbon.  So simple...yet so very elegant!! Thanks for looking!!!

This week Anita is hosting the card challenge...it is a red, white and blue color challenge or a red and white color challenge.  We are celebrating our July 4th here in the USA and July1st...Canada Day in Canada.
Here's my card that I made for this week:

Supplies used:
Bo Bunny chipboard and paper
Stampin UP star punch and ribbon
Bazzill paper

Get your card posted here by Saturday July 3rd at 8PM EST. Then winners will be posted on Sunday the 4th. The winning card creator will receive a Guest DT spot with the card team for the week of July 12th.

Turning Out Some Crate Cards and Putting Myself Out There...YIKES!!!

OK...Tanya you can stop stalking my blog, I did it!!!
When my scrappy best friend found out that Crate Paper was having a Design Team Call she called me on the phone and said, "No backing out, we are doing it!" Well, needless to say.  I have himhawed around and haven't done it. Here it is Sunday night and I am doing it, but still a little scared.   T and I have talked almost every day on the phone and she has hounded me to do it.   So much that one night I had a DREAM that I saw Christine Middlecamp come out of her office while I was talking to Liz Hicks ( who I have never met in person, but have talked to on the phone and chatted with a few times).  Now why I would see Christine and Liz together is beyond me because Liz lives in Colorado, but that's a dream for you!!! I also NEVER remember my dreams like I remembered this one.  Anyways Christine looked so tired.  Her eyes were so droopy and black underneath.  She only came out of her office for only a few minutes to get a cup of coffee and Liz asked her how things were going.  She said things were going very well and she was exhausted, but she had to get back to work.  I told her that my scrappy friend was trying and that Tanya wanted me to enter my cards too, but I figured she already had it all figured out with all the great cardmakers in the industry.  Christine reassured me that I should apply and should put myself out there.  (I also told her that if she picked Tanya and I for the DT then she'd only have to send one box and Crate could save on shipping because we only live five minutes away.)  LOL!!!! I know it was only my subconscious that has been bugging the crud out of me, so I am putting myself out there.  I am also trying to practice what I preach to my own children.  I tell my kids to go for things and here I am their role model...if I don't do it then what is that saying to them.

It's Power Week At LCOM for Card Challenge

Over at LCOM Corinne chose a Monochromatic challenge and JJ chose a Transparent challenge.  The catch is it's a POWER week.  Which means...you've got the POWER to choose to do one challenge, both challenges and you can do it by doing 2 cards or by combining them into 1 card.
I chose to combine and do both challenges...this is the Lillian collection from Crate, so the bluish color is kind of like a teal color(but it's in the green in family).  Then I used a Tim Holtz fragment as my transparent piece.  You should see what the other Card Team Members did.  Lots of variety and some great eye candy!
Oh, did I mention the prize... you can either choose a prize or you can choose to be the next GDT for the week of July 5th.  It's all about having POWER this week over at LCOM.  Stop by and check it out!!!

I also made these 3 hats in Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety and I went to a scrappy friend of mine who has 3 little girls who I love dearly.  I took a quart of strawberries and we had a pretend birthday party.  This hat went together very easily.  I made THREE of them in about 20 minutes.  I used that red sticky tape to hold them and they stayed very nicely during the photo shoot.  I do recommend putting ribbon or ties on them to hold them on the child's head.  Here's a link to where you can go get it!

Krisi Kreations

I made it...I still can't believe it!!! A couple weeks ago I headed over to Scrapbookcalls and saw this call.  Krisi has a lot of templates and well...I think templates are pretty doggone cool, but I don't know ANYTHING about this whole DIGIscrapbooking thingy going on.  Anyhow, I thought what the heck the worst she can say is NO...and well...I've heard that said lots of times to me.  When I got the email that I made it, I had to read it like 10 times because my mouth was laying on the computer desk.  I headed on over to Scrap Matters and started perusing around over there...well everyone over there is SOOOOO nice, but it's like reading FRENCH! I remembering emailing Krisi and saying I agree to this, but I have no idea what these acronyms mean. LOL!!! So...here's opening my eyes to a whole new world.   Today...I worked a lot on projects for Krisi.  Hope she likes them!!! Tomorrow is the release date for a few things so be sure to check out Krisis blog.  Here's one thing I can show you that I made.

You can buy her Label Me Up: Water template here.  There are a variety of templates that you get and it is so easy to put together....even if you aren't a digi person (like ME)!!!! :) Check back tomorrow and I'll post some more!!!! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Graphic 45 Beach Page

I took this picture last year when we went to Wildwood, New Jersey.  I'll never forget it was so foggy and I wasn't even going to snap the pictures.  When I got home I played around with them a little.  This is what the one looks like after I fooled with it a little.  I just love the reflection in the sand.  I think it is absolutely amazing.  When I saw the Graphic 45 Beach paper I knew it would look great with it.  I used glimmermist on the flowers to make them aqua on the ends.  Thanks for looking.
